Fixed Income Dealer
About the role
Based in our central Tauranga office, this is a permanent full-time position working 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
The Fixed Income team’s primary function is to execute fixed income trades and provide Private Wealth Investment Advisors with advice on security composition within portfolios. Reporting to the Team Leader, this position will work towards becoming an accredited NZX dealer. The title at commencement of employment will be Fixed Income Assistant as until accreditation is achieved, the role is limited. This transition should occur within three – four months.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Working as a team, execute orders via the Nasdaq ME system (NZX Debt Market) and the over-the-counter market (via Bloomberg) and book them internally.
- Build relationships with advisers and their assistants. Answer adviser and staff queries regarding fixed income.
- Develop and maintain relationships with institutional investors primarily for secondary market transactions.
- Maintain market knowledge on individual securities including new issues.
- Track and monitor the availability of securities within the market.
- Undertake daily and monthly pricing and valuations.
- Produce Research notes for internal and external stakeholders.
About you
If you have the following credentials, we encourage you to apply:
- A relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar business discipline.
- An understanding of markets and trading financial instruments.
- Ability to interpret documents such as bonds, financial market indices, rates, and articles.
- Superior verbal communication skills.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest rates, percentages etc.
- Demonstrate superior attention to detail, particularly inputting of trade details.
- Demonstrate a high level of self-motivation, drive and analytical skills to accomplish the Fixed Income team’s goals.
- A high level of competence with Microsoft Office product suite.
- Training for required systems such as Bloomberg and the Fixed Interest systems will be given.
