Cooke Howlison, one of Otago’s most respected automotive groups (Toyota, BMW, MINI, Hyundai, Isuzu, MG and more), is looking for a proactive, people‑focused Financial Controller to join our leadership team.

This role sits at the heart of our business, connecting multiple franchises and supporting managers across the group. You'll work closely with our Group Financial Controller and lead a small admin team — making this an ideal next step for someone ready for more responsibility and career growth.

 About the Role

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the monthly financial reporting across the group
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, cashflow, and financial analysis
  • Leading and supporting a team of four administrators
  • Ensuring accurate and efficient internal processes and compliance
  • Working collaboratively with managers across all brands

This role suits someone who enjoys variety, is naturally proactive, and takes pride in delivering reliable, accurate financial information that helps a business operate at its best.

About You

You will bring:

  • A  strong work ethic
  • Qualification as a Chartered Accountant
  • Commercial accounting experience and / or experience in a CA firm
  • Audit experience (advantageous, but not essential)
  • Strong initiative and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, helpful approach
  • The ability to lead, support, and develop an administrative team
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to continual improvement
