Financial Controller
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function and partner with senior leadership to drive financial performance and strategic decision-making at A W Fraser Ltd in Christchurch.
Reporting to the Managing Director, with a dotted line to the Group CFO (LBA Group), you will ensure the business's financial strength, reporting accuracy, and commercial performance.
Managing a small team, you will oversee group reporting, management accounting, budgeting and forecasting, while providing financial insights that influence both operational and strategic decisions across the organisation.
This role also offers the opportunity to contribute to systems and reporting improvements, including the transition to IFRS reporting standards.
What We Do
A W Fraser is a global OEM manufacturer of precision copper alloy components, supplying major international companies including Caterpillar, Komatsu, Mercury Marine, Yamaha Marine and General Electric.
Based in Christchurch and part of the international LBA Group, our engineered components are used in heavy machinery and equipment operating worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial and accounting functions of the business
- Deliver group financial reporting to the parent company (LBA Group)
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and management reports
- Provide clear financial insights that influence operational and strategic decision-making
- Act as a key financial business partner to the Managing Director and senior leadership team
- Ensure strong financial controls, compliance and risk management
- Manage the external audit process and key financial relationships
- Oversee treasury and financial risk management
- Lead and develop a small finance team (2–3 staff)
About You
You will be a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with the business and translating numbers into meaningful insights.
You will likely bring:
- CA or CPA qualification
- 3-5 years’ experience in a senior finance role
- Experience in group reporting and management accounting
- Proven capability in forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis
- Ability to provide clear commercial insights from financial data
- Experience managing external audits and financial compliance
- Exposure to international operations or IFRS reporting is advantageous
Manufacturing or industrial sector experience would be beneficial, but is not essential.
