About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Financial Adviser to join our established Dunedin team at phwealth to provide holistic financial advice that helps clients navigate every stage of their financial journey.

As a Financial Adviser, you will work closely with clients to develop and implement comprehensive financial plans, provide investment advice, and support them through key life events and changing financial needs. This is an opportunity to build trusted, long-term relationships while delivering personalised strategies tailored to each client's goals, circumstances and aspirations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage meaningful client relationships built on trust and professionalism.
• Provide high-quality, personalised financial planning and investment advice, ensuring alignment with compliance obligations and industry regulation.
• Prepare and implement holistic financial plans.
• Conduct regular portfolio and financial plan reviews to ensure advice remains appropriate and aligned with client objectives.
• Grow your client base through referrals, networking and business development initiatives.
• Collaborate with clients, colleagues and external professional partners to achieve the best possible outcomes.

About you

You are a client-focused professional who is passionate about helping people achieve their financial and lifestyle goals. You combine technical expertise with a genuine ability to build strong, lasting relationships.

Ideally you will also possess:

• A tertiary degree in either finance, commerce or business-related discipline;
• Version 1, 2 or 3 of the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5), or the National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice) (Level 5), including the Investment strand;
• Certified Financial Planning designation (CFP) (desirable);
• Previous experience working within a financial service environment, ideally in a small and close-knit team;
• Passion for and sound understanding of financial markets and knowledge of industry regulation;
• Sound understanding of financial planning including holistic financial assessment, and financial modelling;
• Demonstrated client relationship management skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with clients;
• Enjoy working with people and helping them make informed decisions relevant to their financial future; 
• Ability to explain financial concepts simply and easily;
• Possess strong business development skills;
• Possess excellent communication and networking skills; and
• Have established local connections to client networks.

Although a qualified Financial Adviser would be desirable, we are open to receiving applications from candidates who are working in a related field and who may not currently possess a relevant qualification and/or Level 5 Financial Services Certificate.
