Financial Accountant
Due to continued strong growth, FMG has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual with a strong technical skill set to join New Zealand’s largest mutual insurer and our high performing Financial Management team as a Financial Accountant.

As our Financial Accountant, you’ll be responsible for the timely submission of regulatory compliance reporting whilst providing sound technical accounting advice to the business. You’ll report to the Senior Financial & Investment Accountant and will assist with the preparation of annual and half-yearly financial statements, tax returns, investment accounting and project support . Your passion for driving process improvement initiatives will see you well placed to support our Finance team into the future.
As the perfect candidate for this role, you’ll be CA qualified, well versed with new accounting standards on the horizon and have had previous exposure to the application of NZ IFRS in practice. You will be able to work with minimal supervision and be confident in engaging with senior management and external advisors. Working in a small and dedicated Finance team, you will need to be flexible and willing to roll up your sleeves to help out where needed. You’ll be a team player with effective communication skills, and understand what it means to deliver outstanding customer service. A background in insurance will be an added bonus (but not essential).
