We are seeking a Financial Accountant who will collaborate across the Finance team. This role has a great balance between leading the Financial Reporting and ensuring the smooth running of HDC’s internal and external audit processes to keeping our monthly financials processes running efficiently.
Some of the key responsibilities for this role would include, preparing the financial statements for the Councils Annual Report, Long term Plan and Annual Plan, ensure an audit plan is agreed with our external auditors each year, assist the GM – Organisation Performance with an internal audit process. Ensure that Council complies with it Tax obligations at all times. There will be no shortage of variety in this role.

You will be responsible for leading the production of Financial Statements, smooth process of all internal and external audits. Guiding and coaching junior staff where necessary. You will be a self-starter who can deliver an overall contribution to the oversight and review of work across the Finance team to ensure business goals are achieved.
You will be an enthusiastic, practical leader who will strive to develop and coach the capability of individuals within your group. Act as a change agent to encourage staff to deliver on culture and excellence through a spirit of service and continuous improvement.
