The role 

We have an exciting opportunity for a student to join our Timaru based team over the university holiday period to gain valuable experience and see what life is like at Alpine Energy. The right candidates will join a team that is focused on continuous improvement and achieving in line with our values of Integrity, Safety and Accountability, all built on a foundation of Respect. 

What’s involved 

You will work effectively within the Finance team in order to gain practical finance experience whilst being supported to develop core financial competencies in your time with us. Duties will include but are not limited to;  

· Being able to extract data into meaningful information in the form of dashboards and reports

· Assisting in preparation of financial reports

· Preparation of GST returns and other tax requirements

· Assisting in accounts payable payment runs and following up on outstanding items

· Meeting and communicating directly with internal business customers & suppliers

· Providing technical support to the finance team

· Assisting in preparation of periodic forecasting and yearly budgeting activities 

· Provide input into process improvements

What you’ll need 

The successful candidates will ideally have a combination of the following skills and qualifications: 

·  Have completed your 2nd or 3rd year at a tertiary institution

·  Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Word, and Excel. Strong time management and the ability to plan/prioritise     

· Good analytical skills  

· Excellent influencing/communication skills - oral, written and listening  

· Ability to set priorities and meet pre-determined deadlines
