Finance Officer
He angitūtanga - The opportunity Join our dedicated Finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate and effective rating services while supporting the overall financial management of the Horowhenua District Council. We are currently seeking a full-time Finance Officer who are detail-oriented, customer-focused, and committed to maintaining the integrity of our revenue systems and processes.
He aha tāu e mahi ai – What you’ll be doing
- Rates (inc. Water) administration (inc. adjustments, penalties and remissions), and the rates rebate scheme
- Provide timely and accurate rating data and support to ratepayers, solicitors, and other external parties.
- Processing accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and on time
- Assist with direct debit processes and sundry debtor invoicing and adjustments.
- Providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
- Contributing to continuous improvement of finance systems and processes
- Demonstrating flexibility to support across all functions and kaupapa of the Finance team as needed
He kōrero mōu - About you
- Experience in a similar role, ideally within local government or a related environment.
- Experience with rating or accounting systems, plus general accounts receivable and bookkeeping knowledge.
- Strong time management, adaptability, and the ability to build great relationships across teams and with external parties.
- Financial literacy and a customer-first approach to service delivery.
