McGregors Farm Services is a locally owned and operated business providing dairy farmers across the Waikato with practical, reliable solutions that keep their farms running.

We're looking for an electrically minded Field Service Technician to join our Morrinsville team.

The Role

This is a varied, hands-on role working directly with farmers to install, service, maintain and repair dairy shed equipment and technology.

You'll work across:

  • Dairy automation and control systems
  • Electrical fault-finding, testing and diagnostics
  • Sensors, drafting systems and cow monitoring technology
  • Milking systems, pumps and other dairy shed equipment
  • Mechanical and pneumatic fault-finding
  • Software, apps and connectivity issues
  • Some welding and light fabrication

McGregors also provides a 24/7 dairy shed breakdown service, so you'll be part of the team's on-call roster, helping customers when they need us most.

About You

We're looking for someone practical, technically minded and great at fault-finding. Electrical skills are highly desirable, but we're open to people from a range of trade backgrounds who have the right aptitude.

You might come from:

  • Electrical servicing or maintenance
  • Plumbing or gas fitting
  • Pumps, irrigation or water systems
  • Dairy shed servicing
  • Industrial maintenance or automation
  • Mechatronics
  • Farm machinery or agricultural equipment

You don't need dairy technology experience from day one – training can be provided. What's important is that you're hands-on, mechanically capable, confident with technology and comfortable diagnosing problems.

You'll also be reliable, good with customers, able to work independently, hold a full NZ drivers licence and be willing to participate in the team's on-call roster.

What's on Offer

  • $35–$45 per hour, depending on experience
  • Company ute, fuel card, phone, uniform and PPE
  • Ongoing technical training
  • Plenty of variety and autonomy
  • A supportive, experienced local team
  • Opportunity to grow your skills across dairy technology, automation and electrical systems
