Agricultural and Food Science Technician
We're looking for a practical, technically minded Field Service Technician to join a growing team working with leading dairy technology and automation equipment.
This is a hands-on field role where you'll install, service and repair modern dairy systems for farmers across the Bay of Plenty and Central North Island region. If you have strong mechanical or electrical aptitude, enjoy fault-finding, and like solving problems, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
This is a full-time, paid hourly position servicing customers throughout the Bay of Plenty and Central North Island region.
You'll be responsible for installing, servicing and maintaining a wide range of dairy technology, including:
- Dairy automation systems
- Sensors and monitoring equipment
- Drafting systems
- Cow collars
- Calf feeders
- Other dairy shed technology
Your work will include:
- Installing, servicing and repairing dairy technology and automated systems
- Fault-finding electrical, mechanical and pneumatic issues
- Diagnosing network and connectivity problems
- MIG welding and light steel fabrication
- Working with computers, software and mobile apps connected to farm equipment
- Training and supporting farmers with system setup and troubleshooting
- Helping keep dairy operations running efficiently when it matters most
Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, with additional hours available during busy periods. There is currently no on-call roster.
About You
You may come from a background such as:
- Electrical
- Mechanical fitting
- Dairy shed servicing
- Farm machinery
- Heavy diesel or automotive
- Pumps, irrigation or water systems
- Industrial maintenance
- Another practical trade or technical field
You don't need experience with every type of dairy technology, but you should have:
- Strong hands-on practical skills
- Excellent fault-finding ability
- Confidence using your own tools
- Good computer and app skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- A full New Zealand driver's licence
