Field Service Technician – Dairy Services
Dairy Shed Hub is on the lookout for a practical, technically minded Field Service Technician to join the team.
This is a hands-on role working with high-end dairy technology and equipment, so we’re looking for someone with strong practical skills and a good technical head. You might come from an electrical, engineering, fitting, mechanical, dairy shed servicing, pump, irrigation, farm machinery, automotive, or general trade background.
Ideally, you’ll already have most of the tools and practical know-how needed to hit the ground running. You don’t need to know every dairy system we work on from day one, but you’ll need to be confident using tools, fault-finding, and working with technology.
This is a Waikato-based role, covering areas including Cambridge, Morrinsville, Matamata and Putāruru.
What you’ll be doing
This is a full-time, paid-per-hour field role with plenty of variety. You’ll be out on farm installing, servicing and repairing modern dairy shed technology, including automation, sensors, drafting systems, collars, calf feeders and other shed equipment.
The work includes:
- Installing, servicing and repairing dairy technology and automated systems
- Fault-finding electrical, mechanical and pneumatic issues
- Sorting network and connectivity issues
- MIG welding and mild steel fabrication
- Working with computers, software and apps linked to farm equipment
- Helping farmers with setup, training and troubleshooting
- Keeping dairy sheds running when it matters most
The standard hours are 8 am–5 pm, with extra hours available during the busy season. There is no on-call roster at this stage.
Who we’re after
An ideal background would be in a trade or technical field, such as:
- Electrical, mechanical or fitting work
- Dairy shed servicing or farm machinery.
- Automotive, heavy diesel or general service technician work
- Pumps, irrigation, water systems or industrial maintenance
You don’t need to tick every box, but this is a technical role working with high-end products, equipment, and technology.
You’ll need:
- Practical, hands-on experience
- Strong fault-finding ability
- Confidence using your own tools and equipment
- Decent computer and app skills
- Excellent communication skills
- A full NZ driver licence
