Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

This is a fixed-term part-time (0.2 FTE) position from 24 July 2026 to 23 October 2026. We are seeking Expressions of Interest for a Sport & Exercise Tutor to deliver an engaging and practical Trades Academy programme for secondary students. This role focuses on developing students’ practical skills, confidence, and understanding across sport, fitness, recreation, and outdoor education, while supporting pathways into further study or employment in these fields. 

The appointing salary for this role will be between $68,841 and $84,793, dependent on skills and experience (pro-rated).

The Expressions of Interest Sport & Exercise Tutor is based in our School of Health and Sport Science, reporting to the Head of School, Health and Sport Science and will be responsible for:

  • Teaching courses within the Trades Academy Sport and Exercise programme and delivering engaging, practical learning experiences
  • Supporting curriculum development, including course materials and ongoing programme improvement
  • Providing academic and pastoral support to students from diverse backgrounds
  • Liaising with industry partners to enhance student learning opportunities
  • Participating in assessment, moderation, and maintaining accurate student records

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A relevant Sport and Exercise qualification
  • Experience supporting students, ideally in a tertiary or similar learning environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Cultural competency, including experience working with Māori and Pasifika learners and understanding of Te Reo me ōna tikanga
