Experienced Contract Milker - 500 cows (Taupiri)
An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced Contract Milker on a well-established 146-hectare dairy farm near Taupiri. This well-established dairy farm milks up to 500 Friesian-cross cows through a 40-aside herringbone cowshed, complemented by an adjacent feed pad. Over the past three years, the farm has averaged 212,000 kgMS annually. Strong infrastructure and efficient effluent irrigation ensure reliable summer grass growth, supporting well-organised and productive operations.
The owners are looking for a skilled Contract Milker who can confidently manage the shift from Spring/Autumn calving to a full Autumn calving system. You’ll need to demonstrate excellent pasture management and animal husbandry skills and take a proactive, knowledgeable approach to compliance across all areas of the business.
The ideal applicant will:
- Have a minimum of 3 years’ farm management experience.
- Proven ability in pasture management and feed planning to optimise production
- Strong background in animal health, welfare, and husbandry practices.
- Skilled and confident in operating machinery and carrying out general farm maintenance.
- Effective communicator with well-developed leadership and people management skills.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of health and safety across all farm activities.
