Crown Law’s purpose is to serve New Zealand by supporting the Government to operate lawfully. 

Crown Law’s functions are:

- Supporting the Law Officers of the Crown
- Leading the government legal profession
- Overseeing public prosecutions
- Providing legal services to Government

Crown Law provides legal advice and representation services to the Government in matters affecting the executive government. The services Crown Law provides include matters covering judicial review of government actions, constitutional questions including Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi issues, the enforcement of criminal law, and the protection of revenue. Crown Law also administers the prosecution process in the criminal justice system, in particular, Crown prosecutions.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As our Executive Assistant, you will provide efficient, effective and confidential administrative and executive support to assigned Tier Three Strategy & Corporate Managers. You’ll be a trusted advisor and key communication channel, helping leaders with their work programmes and enabling seamless organisational coordination.

The Executive Assistant is responsible for:

- Provide proactive executive support, including diary management, meeting coordination and document preparation
- Support work programmes, planning, and Strategy & Corporate processes
- Manage administration tasks including travel, events, financial tasks and compliance tracking
- Maintain accurate documentation and team information
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Communicate on behalf of managers and act as a professional first point of contact

The ideal candidate will have:

- Proven Executive Assistant or senior administration experience (legal/government preferred)
- Strong MS Office and document management skills
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and discretion
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and remain calm under pressure
- Initiative, independence and strong problem-solving skills
- Flexibility and responsiveness to change
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and willingness to deepen knowledge of te ao Māori, tikanga and te reo

This role is Wellington based and located next to Wellington bus and train station.

Remuneration and Benefits

A starting salary range of between $72,863 and $89,141 with further room to progress. The appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.

- 4 weeks annual leave plus 3 additional leave days (Crown Law days);
