About the role 

We are currently seeking an experienced Estimator to join the McKay team. This role will work across both our Major Projects team and wider McKay team, on a range of projects diverse in industry, size and scale.

The purpose of this role is to assess and analyse project requirements to provide accurate and competitive cost estimates. We need someone with an eye for detail and experience pulling together large tender documents. You will manage all aspects of the tender/project preparation process from preparing and submitting competitive bids, handover to managers / supervision and assist the project execution team to evaluate V.O.s and claims. You will be able to take full ownership of the process from start to finish.

In this role, you should expect to spend your time on:

· Collaborating with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to gather information and ensure accurate estimation. 

· Distributing specifications and drawings and obtain input into design, price and preparation of project, tender and contract documentation.

· Identifying potential risks and uncertainties associated with project execution and incorporation of contingency plans into cost estimates. 

· Completing any design needed to prepare the tender submission

· Preparing proposals including pricing schedules, complete any tender forms and proposal writeup

· Establishing the budgets for projects, cashflow and resource planning, costing and preparation of variations

· Assisting with long term development of tendering process and policy

Skills and Experience

· Proven experience as an electrical estimator or in a similar role within the electrical industry. 

· Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes and standards. 

· Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite. 

· Excellent analytical and mathematical skills. 

· Effective communication and negotiation skills. 

· Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. 

· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management or a related field (or equivalent work experience), would be beneficial, though not essential.
