This position is for a Tutor within the Engineering Team in the Faculty of Primary Industries, Trades and Infrastructure. This role involves teaching on our Mechanical Engineering Level 3 Programme. You will be required to teach machining, fabrication and welding skills at this level. As an Academic Staff Member (ASM) within this team you will also be required to update resources and classroom materials; set and mark assessments, enter attendance and results, assist with the recruitment and care of students; and have the ability to work autonomously in a busy and continually changing environment along with actively participating in the team and school environment. Travel between campuses within the region may also be required.

  

The key responsibilities for this position include:

· Delivery of pre-trade mechanical engineering training 

· Providing leadership in student management

· Developing, planning and implementing student assessment, courses and resource material

· Monitoring student progress and results and providing timely and accurate advice and support as required 

· Planning and timetabling for the programme as well as assisting with student recruitment

The skills, experience and qualifications required for this role include:

· Trade Certificate/Advanced Trade Certificate as a Fitter and Turner or equivalent

· Trade Certificate/Advanced Trade Certificate as a Boilermaker Welder or equivalent

· In depth experience, skills and knowledge of either Fabrication, Machining or Welding Industry’s

· Intermediate level experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps.

· Full New Zealand Driver’s License

This position is 36 hours per week, 1 FTE.
