Engineering Practice Lead
Permanent Full Time
Auckland/Wellington and New Plymouth Locations Considered
This is a rare opportunity to step into a role that sits right at the heart of how we build technology at TSB.
As our Engineering Practice Lead, you’ll shape how engineering is done across the organisation.
You’ll lead and grow engineering capability across multiple disciplines, helping our teams deliver software that’s high quality, secure and reliable, all in service of better outcomes for our customers and communities.
You won’t be embedded in one squad. Instead, you’ll work across teams, setting direction, lifting capability and bringing people together around modern, practical engineering practices that work for TSB.
A big part of your impact will come from building and nurturing Communities of Practice. Through these, you’ll connect engineers, share ideas, lift standards and create a strong culture of learning and continuous improvement.
You’ll also provide technical leadership by evolving our engineering standards and ways of working, including DevOps (bringing development and operations together), test‑driven development (building quality in from the start), and cloud‑native design, always keeping things simple, practical and fit for our environment.
Alongside this, you will:
Your skills include:
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys influencing at scale, building strong relationships, and combining technical credibility with people leadership. You’ll help create an environment where engineers can do their best work and where great engineering makes banking better for people across Aotearoa.
What’s in it for me?
At TSB, we’re small enough to really care about our customers but big enough to have great rates, innovative products, and digital solutions. We are looking for people to help us achieve our goal of being the easiest bank to deal with.
We aim to create remarkable experiences for our people, who in turn create remarkable experiences for our customers.
By working with us, you’ll be a part of a profit for purpose organisation. We’re 100% owned by Toi Foundation, a philanthropic trust, and our annual dividends contribute to Toi’s transformational impact in our community.
We believe that we all bring something unique to our workplace and when we are encouraged to be ourselves, TSB is stronger for it. That’s why we’re committed to supporting your wellbeing, creating space for you to be your best self, both in and out of work, and enabling you to make a meaningful difference in our communities.
