Wintec | Te Pūkenga is looking for a motivated, people-focused leader to join our Marketing and Engagement team as the Engagement and Events Lead. This is a dynamic role where you’ll lead the design and delivery of recruitment events, community engagement initiatives, and sponsorship activities that help shape the future of education in the Waikato. You’ll work across our organisation and with community partners to create meaningful connections and experiences that inspire ākonga (students) and strengthen our place in the region.

The Engagement and Events Lead is based in our Marketing and Engagement team at Wintec | Te Pūkenga, reporting to the Head of Marketing and Engagement, and will be responsible for:

  • Leading a team to deliver high-quality recruitment and community events across the Waikato.
  • Planning and executing key institutional events such as Open Day and expos.
  • Managing Wintec’s sponsorship portfolio and ensuring community partnerships deliver value.
  • Supporting strategic stakeholder engagement across internal teams and external partners.
  • Championing brand consistency across all engagement and event touchpoints

The appointing salary for this role will be between $90,000 and $100,000, dependent on skills and experience.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Proven experience in a senior events or engagement role, ideally within education or community-focused organisations.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and guide a high-performing team.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, including event logistics and budgeting.
  • A collaborative, values-based approach and strong relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholders.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and consistently deliver high-quality work.
