Mō te tūraka mahi | About the role
As a Learning and Teaching Specialist you will work collaboratively with academic kaimahi (staff), subject matter experts and other kaimahi ) to design and develop blended and online learning opportunities for diverse learning contexts. These learning opportunities will enhance ākonga (learner) achievement, build their capability and enable them to realise their potential.
This role will support our team in:
· Educational Technologies, including Moodle, MS Teams and eportfolio systems
· Online development using Moodle, including Quizzes and H5P
· Assessment design and workflows, including Turnitin setup, grading and feedback processes[TC1]
· Reviewing, maintaining, and improving Educational Technology documentation and guides
· Supporting academic kaimahi training, inductions, and capability‑building activities
As part of Te Ama Ako, the Learning and Teaching Development Team, you will be operating in a high-performing team environment who work collectively and have a strong culture of self-responsibility and service quality.
Technical Proficiency and Online Development
· A strong capability in using and supporting various educational technologies, Learning Management Systems (LMS), ePortfolios and web conferencing tools (e.g., Moodle, H5P, MS Teams and Adobe Creative Suite).
· Experience in supporting course administration tasks, including course reuse, assessment setup, and end‑of‑semester processes
· Basic HTML, image and video editing skills and knowledge of creative commons and copyright conventions.
· Ability to develop tailored learning experiences, which meet LXD principles, including usability and accessibility guidelines, to meet quality assurance standards.
· Familiarity with emerging technologies like AI, and AR/VR and their application implications.

· Ability to manage projects, from selecting new tools and platforms to supporting the implementation of large-scale digital initiatives.
Ko wai koe | About you
As part of the team, you need to be a highly motivated, independent self-starter who is a good communicator, able to use effective consultation skills and have a flexible, proactive, problem-solving approach. Sound technical writing and editing skills are also required.
You bring expertise in learning and teaching practice, with the ability to apply technical solutions that enhance online learning experiences. You have demonstrated experience in educational technologies (EdTech) and assessment design, supported by a relevant degree qualification.
