ECE Cook (BestStart Montel Ave)
At BestStart Montel Ave, we believe healthy food helps children thrive. We're looking for a passionate Centre Cook to join our friendly team and play an important role in supporting the wellbeing of our tamariki through fresh, nutritious meals.
About the Role
This is a permanent position, working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 3:00pm.
You'll be responsible for planning and preparing delicious, nutritious meals each day, catering for individual dietary requirements, managing menus and food orders, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, and supporting the wider team when needed. Every meal you prepare will help fuel children's learning, play, and development.
We are looking for a caring, organised, and passionate Cook to join our Centre, providing nutritious meals and snacks for up to 80 children each day.
As our Centre Cook, you will play an important role in supporting the health, wellbeing, and development of our tamariki by preparing fresh, balanced meals in a safe and hygienic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and serve healthy meals and snacks.
- Cater for children's dietary, allergy, cultural, and religious requirements.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness.
- Order food supplies and manage kitchen stock levels.
- Maintain food safety records and comply with relevant regulations.
- Work collaboratively with centre staff to promote healthy eating habits.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous cooking experience in a childcare, school, aged care, or commercial kitchen environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Has a passion for preparing healthy, nutritious meals for young children
- Understands food safety and nutritional requirements
- Is well organised and able to manage a food budget
- Enjoys being part of a team and engaging with tamariki
- Takes pride in creating a welcoming mealtime experience
