ECE Cook (BestStart Beach Haven)

In this vital role, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference each day by preparing fresh, balanced meals for up to 120 children. Your cooking will not only nourish growing bodies but also support their learning, play, and development. You’ll be a valued member of our team, helping to create a warm, welcoming environment where tamariki can thrive—starting from the kitchen.
Permanent Part-Time | 35 Hours | Monday–Friday
What You’ll Love About This Role:
- Work in a large, purpose-built kitchen that’s central to the heart of the centre and open to two classrooms
- Take ownership as our sole cook, managing all aspects of meal preparation, hygiene, and kitchen upkeep.
- Design your own menus in collaboration with our teaching team, rotating every four weeks and tailored to seasonal ingredients.
- Order fresh, quality ingredients and manage a budget to support healthy, cost-effective meal planning
- Contribute to our goal of achieving the Healthy Heart Award in 2025.
What You’ll Bring:
- A genuine love for cooking and promoting healthy eating habits.
- Excellent time management and the ability to work independently
- Awareness of allergies and dietary needs.
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety (a Food Safety Certificate is required, but we’ll provide training if needed).
- Experience in an early childhood or similar cooking role is preferred.
