About the Role:

Are you an inspiring leader who thrives on building strong relationships, empowering teams, and creating environments where tamariki truly flourish? BestStart Howick is searching for a confident Centre Manager or experienced Head teacher to lead our vibrant centre and dedicated team.

Reporting to an Area Manager, you will be a high-impact leader who ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of the centre while driving amazing learning outcomes. Your ability to communicate clearly, build meaningful relationships, and create a positive team culture will be central to your success.

We’re looking for a confident and capable leader who brings solid experience and a proactive approach. You’ll be someone who takes initiative, sets clear expectations, builds strong community connections, and naturally lifts and empowers your team. With a licence size of 47, this role calls for a calm, organised, people-focused leader who is committed to high-quality learning and exceptional outcomes for tamariki.

This is a permanent full-time position| 40 Hours | Monday–Friday

What We’re Looking For

To shine in this role, you will bring:

  • BEd/Dip Teaching (ECE) Level 7 and current full Teacher Registration
  • Strong knowledge of child-led curriculum, pedagogy, and practice
  • A thorough understanding of ECE Regulations, Te Whāriki, and compliance
  • A solid commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in daily practice
  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to coach, inspire and develop others
  • Confidence to innovate and help simplify processes to support success
  • Warm, community-focused energy and excellent relationship-building skills
  • The ability to lead with clarity, compassion, and professionalism
