Located in the heart of Queenstown, right next door to the local primary school, BestStart Queenstown is a vibrant and welcoming early learning centre where children are encouraged to explore, grow and discover together.

We’re on the lookout for a passionate and dedicated Centre Cook to join our energetic, close-knit team and play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of our tamariki through nutritious, delicious food.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to become the heart of our centre’s kitchen. As our Centre Cook, you’ll plan, prepare and cook fresh, nutritious and culturally responsive meals each day, including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

You’ll be confident managing your time, budgets and food ordering, with a strong understanding of nutrition, allergies and dietary requirements for young children.

This is a permanent part-time position, working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday. (Hours are negotiable for the right candidate.)

What We’re Looking For

You’ll bring:

  • A genuine passion for cooking and baking 
  • Knowledge of kitchen health and safety, hygiene and food handling 
  • An understanding of allergies and special dietary requirements 
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work within set budgets 
  • Confidence using computers to design menus and place weekly orders 
  • A commitment to promoting healthy eating habits for young children 

Most importantly, you’ll care deeply about making a positive difference in the lives of tamariki.
