ECE Centre Cook (BestStart Petone)
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Centre Cook to join our vibrant team at BestStart Petone, a lively and community-focused early learning centre licensed for 97 children.
Our central kitchen is at the heart of our centre, we take pride in preparing fresh, healthy, and delicious meals that nourish our tamariki and support their growth and wellbeing every day.
About the Role
As our Centre Cook, you’ll plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals for our children, including morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. The kitchen is located in the classroom, so you’ll enjoy connecting with tamariki and teachers while staying focused and organised in a busy environment.
We’re seeking someone who takes pride in their work, values high standards of hygiene, and enjoys contributing to a warm and positive atmosphere.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous cooking experience (ECE or large-group catering ideal)
- Strong time management and ability to self-manage workload
- Knowledge of child nutrition, allergies, and food safety
- Friendly, upbeat attitude and great communication skills
- Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
