ECE Caregiver (BestStart Whangamata)

We are now looking for a caring, enthusiastic ECE Caregiver to join our close-knit team.
About the Role
This is a permanent, part-time position (27 hours per week), working 5 days. Your time will be split between caregiving and 1.5 hours of daily cleaning. You’ll work mostly with our over 2s, while also supporting our under 2s as part of our collaborative team environment.

Who You Are
- Passionate about working with young children
- Kind, respectful, and able to build warm, trusting relationships
- A positive, reliable team player who communicates openly and honestly
- Experienced in caregiving or ECE (preferred but not essential)
What You’ll Do
Caregiving & Learning Support
- Provide loving, responsive care that nurtures each child’s unique personality
- Create joyful, hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity and exploration
- Support the daily rhythms of the centre and help provide a calm, happy environment
- Build strong, genuine relationships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues
Cleaning & Centre Care
- Complete daily cleaning duties as scheduled
- Maintain hygiene across shared spaces, bathrooms, and resource areas
- Assist with dishes, laundry, and general tidying
- Ensure the environment remains safe, tidy, and inviting for tamariki
- Report any hazards, maintenance needs, or concerns
