Growing Connections, Growing Community

BestStart Riccarton Park is seeking a passionate Caregiver to join our energetic, supportive team. As a centre that opened less than two years ago, we are proud of the strong sense of belonging we have built with our tamariki, whānau and wider community. Our vision, Growing Connections, Growing Community, guides our daily practice and reflects the relationships at the heart of our work.

Families often tell us how welcomed and supported they feel from their very first day. Our team of dedicated Kaiako ensures every child is genuinely known, valued and encouraged to thrive.

Why Choose BestStart

At BestStart, we are committed to being a progressive and adaptable leader in the ECE sector. We recognise the positive difference our people make in children’s lives and invest in their growth and wellbeing.

Our benefits include:

  • Whare Ako learning — our online learning platform
  • Career development support to help you grow your skills
  • $2000 referral bonus when you refer a qualified teacher*
  • Discounted childcare
  • Health and wellbeing support, including subsidised health insurance*, annual flu vaccinations, EAP counselling and a wellbeing programme
  • Sick leave available from your first day
  • One week of additional leave after 10 years of service

About the Role

As a Caregiver at BestStart Riccarton Park, you will play an important role in creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for our tamariki. You will be supported by a collaborative team and a Centre Manager who values open communication and professional growth.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality care and meaningful learning experiences
  • Supporting a positive team culture and contributing to tamariki learning
  • Participating across all classrooms and assisting with break coverage
  • Supporting centre operations as needed

This is a permanent position of 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3pm, working with our over 2 year old tamariki.

Our Environment

Our centre is thoughtfully designed, well-resourced and filled with natural light. The welcoming foyer offers a calm space for whānau, and each classroom is purpose-built for its age group. As our centre community grows, additional learning spaces will open to meet the needs of our families.

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has a natural affinity with young children, especially infants and toddlers
  • Has experience working with children under five
  • Shows initiative and can take direction
  • Is committed to making a positive difference every day
