ECE Caregiver (BestStart Raureka)
BestStart Raureka is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Caregiver to join our warm and supportive team. Our well-established centre is located in the heart of Raureka, just a short walk from two primary schools, local shops, and a park. Our philosophy is grounded in Kaupapa Māori principles, and we pride ourselves on providing quality care and education to the tamariki in our community.
About the role
We’re looking for a nurturing and reliable person to assist with the day-to-day running of our centre. In this role, you’ll work alongside qualified Kaiako to:
- Support tamariki during daily routines, kai times, and sleep times
- Supervise and engage children in play and learning experiences
- Help meet the basic needs of children in your care
- Build strong, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues
- Be open to learning and contributing to a positive team environment
This is a permanent position, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. An ECE qualification is not required, but experience working with children under five, particularly infants and toddlers, is essential.
This role will be based in either our Ngā Puāwai Room (2–5 years) supporting older tamariki in their learning and independence, or in our Ngā Tipu Room (infants and toddlers) nurturing our youngest learners. In our Ngā Tipu Room, you’ll create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment that fosters social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. For either age group, we are looking for someone patient, flexible, dedicated, and focused on building strong relationships with children and their whānau.
