About the Role
We are seeking a Caregiver/Teacher in Training to join our long-standing team at BestStart Puketaha, in our Toddler team, working with children aged 2-3.5 years, in a permanent part time role (30 hours per week). This is a rare opportunity, available due to an internal promotion — reflecting the positive culture, growth, and career pathways within our centre. You will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the centre while developing foundational skills in early childhood education. This position is ideal for someone beginning or considering ECE study, or someone who loves working with young children and wants to grow into a teaching role. You will work alongside qualified teachers to provide high‑quality care, contribute to a safe and engaging learning environment, and build meaningful relationships with children and whānau.    

  • Have a genuine passion for working with children in the outdoors 
  • Enjoy spending time in gardens and/or engaging with animals 
  • Be enthusiastic about nature-based learning and hands-on experiences 
  • Support children to learn, explore, and grow through meaningful engagement with their environment 
  • Bring warmth, curiosity, and a willingness to get involved in all aspects of outdoor play and learning
