BestStart Montessori Rongotai is seeking a passionate Caregiver to join our energetic and close-knit team.

Our philosophy is grounded in respect for each child as a capable and competent learner. This full-time role is ideal for someone who loves working with children, values meaningful relationships, and is passionate about supporting children's learning, wellbeing, and growing independence.

Working alongside our teaching team, you will help provide high-quality care and learning experiences for children aged 2-6 years.

About the Role

As a Caregiver at BestStart Montessori Rongotai, you will:

  • Build warm, respectful, and responsive relationships with children and whānau
  • Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through everyday interactions and play
  • Assist with daily routines, care moments, and learning experiences
  • Champion team spirit and actively engage in experiences that empower and extend tamariki learning
  • Work collaboratively across all age groups and support colleagues as needed
  • Participate in centre activities and provide break cover where required
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
  • Uphold and champion our Montessori philosophy, fostering children's independence, respect for themselves and others, and a love of learning

Hours of Work

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, within centre operating hours of 8:00am - 5:30pm.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience working with children under five years of age is preferred
  • A genuine passion for nurturing children's independence, wellbeing, and natural curiosity
  • Warm, caring, and positive approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work collaboratively within a team
  • A high level of initiative and ability to take direction when required
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the Montessori philosophy
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice

An ECE qualification is not required for this role. However, experience working with young children and a natural affinity for supporting tamariki to thrive are essential.
