About the Role
As a Caregiver at BestStart, you’ll be based in our Bambini Room, supporting our youngest tamariki aged 0–3 years. This nurturing, home-like space is built around strong whānau involvement and respectful, unhurried care. Our primary caregiving approach ensures consistency between home and centre, helping each child develop a deep sense of belonging.
You’ll help introduce the foundational concepts of Montessori—fostering independence, supporting emerging self-help skills, and nurturing warm, trusting relationships. Our Bambini programme also includes:
- ‘Mini Adventurers’ – weekly outings with our two-year-old tamariki, including visits to the local library
- Weekly yoga sessions designed especially for our youngest learners
You’ll work closely with our Centre Manager and a dedicated team of teachers who are committed to delivering high‑quality care and education.
Your Day-to-Day Will Include
- Providing exceptional care and learning experiences for tamariki
- Supporting and uplifting the team culture
- Engaging in activities that extend children’s learning
- Participating across all classrooms and helping cover breaks
- Supporting centre operations as needed
This is a permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week), Monday–Friday, 8.30am–5.00pm.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll bring a genuine passion for working with young children, especially infants and toddlers, and experience supporting children under five. While an ECE qualification isn’t required, you’ll need:
- A natural affinity with tamariki
- Initiative and a positive, can-do attitude
- The ability to take direction and work collaboratively
