Distribution Manager
Bidfood Auckland South is seeking an experienced Distribution Manager to lead its transport and distribution operation. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll ensure deliveries reach customers safely, efficiently and on time. You’ll lead and develop the distribution team, oversee fleet maintenance and compliance, and maintain strong Health & Safety and Food Safety standards. Working closely with teams across the business, you’ll improve delivery performance, manage transport costs and support excellent customer service. This hands-on leadership role suits someone with proven logistics experience, strong people skills and a commitment to continuous improvement. Due to an internal promotion, we’re looking for an experienced Distribution Manager to lead our transport and distribution operation. You’ll help us deliver on our vision to be the Partner of Choice for Auckland’s Foodservice.
About the role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll oversee daily transport and dispatch operations, develop your team and ensure customers receive their orders safely, efficiently and on time.
This is a hands-on leadership role working closely with Drivers, Runners, Dispatch, Warehouse, Sales and Customer Service. You’ll balance service quality, delivery efficiency and transport costs while maintaining strong safety and compliance standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Leading daily transport and dispatch operations.
· Managing, coaching and developing Drivers, Runners and Dispatch Coordinators.
· Improving delivery efficiency, service levels and transport costs.
· Overseeing fleet maintenance, vehicle safety and compliance.
· Maintaining Health & Safety and Food Safety standards.
· Monitoring performance and implementing practical improvements.
· Working across teams to resolve delivery issues and provide reliable customer service.
What you’ll bring
You’ll combine strong operational knowledge with the ability to lead people and build a collaborative team.
Ideally, you’ll have:
· Proven experience managing transport, logistics, distribution or supply chain operations.
· Strong leadership, coaching and team development skills.
· Experience overseeing fleet compliance, vehicle maintenance and transport performance.
· A sound understanding of Health & Safety and operational compliance requirements.
· Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
· A commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
