Dispensing Optician - Fixed Term - Arrowtown

Ocula is looking for an experienced Dispensing Optician to join our Queenstown practice on a 6-month fixed-term contract, starting ASAP.

About the Role
As an experienced Dispensing Optician, you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care and eyewear solutions. You’ll work closely with our Optometrists and wider team to provide a premium experience for every patient.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service and personalised dispensing advice
- Assist patients with frame and lens selection tailored to their lifestyle and vision needs
- Manage fittings, adjustments, repairs, and aftercare
- Support day-to-day practice operations and maintain high presentation standards
- Build strong patient relationships and contribute to a positive team culture
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Dispensing Optician with ODOB Practicing Certificate
- Strong knowledge of lenses, coatings, and frame styling
- A warm, professional, and patient-focused approach
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Availability to start ASAP

Skills & Experience
- ODOB Practicing Certificate
- Experience as a dispensing optician or optical assistant
- Confidence interpreting prescriptions and recommending lenses
- Confidence with basic maths and biology to understand prescriptions and eye anatomy
- A strong eye for styling and helping people find frames that reflect their personality
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build genuine client relationships
- A team-focused attitude and willingness to learn from experienced optometrists and dispensing opticians
- Passion for delivering a personalised, high-quality customer experience
