Wintec|Te Pūkenga, one of New Zealand's leading vocational education provider, is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a Director – Te Kete Manaaki. As the Director, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the success of our ākonga (students) with a focus on Māori, Pacific, and learners with disabilities. This role presents a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our diverse student community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specialist Knowledge and Leadership: Provide specialist knowledge and leadership in all areas critical to ākonga success, with particular emphasis on Māori, Pacific, and learners with disabilities.
  • Strategic Leadership and Management: Lead and manage high-quality student services, ensuring the delivery of learning, pastoral, and wellbeing support that meets the diverse needs of our ākonga.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strategic relationships and networks both internally and externally to enhance Wintec's delivery for ākonga. This includes fostering partnerships with community organisations, government agencies, and other educational institutions.
  • Application of Tōia Mai Competencies: Demonstrate the application of Tōia Mai competencies in decision-making and professional practice, ensuring a culturally responsive approach in all aspects of the role.
  • Support for Te Kōpu Mānia o Kirikiriroa Marae: Provide ongoing support to the operations of Te Kōpu Mānia o Kirikiriroa marae.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within the education sector, preferably within student services or support services.
  • Proven ability to provide specialist knowledge and leadership in areas relevant to student success, with a focus on Māori, Pacific and ākonga with disabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Understanding and application of Tōia Mai competencies in decision making and professional practice.
  • Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
  • Knowledge of Wintec|Te Pūkenga systems and processes in particular those used in Te Kete Manaaki. 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Te Reo Māori and understanding of Tikanga Māori
