Design Engineer
Stabicraft Marine is an award-winning, globally recognised designer and manufacturer of aluminium boats based in Invercargill. Our boats are trusted around the world for their innovation, quality, and performance – and it all starts with great design.
We’re on the hunt for a Design Engineer who’s passionate about creating industry-leading products and ready to help shape the next generation of Stabicraft boats.
What you'll be doing:
In this exciting and varied role, you’ll be involved in the full product development journey – from initial sketch and mock-up, through to 3D CAD modelling, prototyping, testing, and refinement. You’ll be hands-on with real projects, working on designs that go from concept to water faster than you might expect.
Every day is different – one day you could be shaping hull geometry, the next refining a console layout or improving manufacturability. As with any role, there’s detail work too but it’s all part of turning bold ideas into world-class boats.
What we’re looking for:
We’re after someone who brings creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for making things better. You'll ideally have:
- 2–3 years’ experience in a design or engineering role
- Experience with 3D parametric CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor)
- A drive for continuous improvement and high-quality outcomes
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
- A good sense of humour and a great attitude
- A love of boating, outdoor adventures, or just making cool stuff
