Niagara Sawmilling Company Limited is a proudly New Zealand-owned and operated sawmill, manufacturer, and distributor with over 90 years of industry leadership. We specialise in high-quality radiata pine products used across New Zealand and international construction markets. With a strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, and our people, we offer long-term employment in a dynamic and supportive workplace.
We are currently seeking a motivated and practical Machine Operator / Labourer . This is a hands-on, full-time dayshift role suitable for a candidate who is ready to contribute to a high-performing team and grow within a progressive business.
Are you ready to be part of a team where strength, teamwork, and dedication drive success? Join us at Niagara, located just a stone's throw from Invercargill, and take on a vital role in our robust team.
As a Sawmill Machine Operator, you will play a key role in our production process, transforming raw logs into a range of rough-sawn timber profiles that support our remanufacturing operations. This hands-on position involves operating machinery, monitoring production quality, performing physically demanding tasks, and ensuring equipment is running safely and efficiently to meet production targets.
We are currently investing in a new sawmill, creating an exciting opportunity for you to be involved in learning and operating a more automated and intelligent production system. By first gaining experience and foundational training on our existing mill, you will develop a deeper understanding of sawmilling processes, product specifications, and production requirements. This knowledge will provide a strong platform for transitioning to the new technology and help you become a highly skilled and versatile operator.
This is a rewarding role where full training is provided - no previous timber industry experience is required! What matters most is your attitude and commitment. We are looking for someone who can commit to the team, bring a genuine interest and energy to their work, and is eager to learn and develop machinery skills. You will need the ability to pay close attention to details to support quality control standards, and be comfortable with some variety across your shift as tasks and priorities change.
If you are capable, motivated, and ready to grow your skills in a hands-on manufacturing environment, this could be the opportunity for you!
