Join a team that works with integrity, supports each other, and strives for excellence.

Niagara Sawmilling Company Limited is a proudly New Zealand-owned and operated sawmill, manufacturer, and distributor with over 90 years of industry leadership. We specialise in high-quality radiata pine products used across New Zealand and international construction markets. With a strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, and our people, we offer long-term employment in a dynamic and supportive workplace.

We are currently seeking a motivated and practical Machine Operator to join our Kennington Sawmill team. This is a hands-on, full-time dayshift role suited to someone who is ready to contribute to a high-performing environment and grow within a progressive, well-established business.

Are you looking to be part of a team where strength, teamwork, and dedication drive success? Join Niagara, located just minutes from Invercargill, and play a vital role in our busy and supportive operation.

As a Sawmill Machine Operator, you will be integral to our production process — transforming raw logs into rough-sawn timber profiles that supply our remanufacturing plant. The role involves physically demanding tasks, operating and monitoring machinery, and ensuring equipment is running efficiently to meet production targets.

Schedule:

  • Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm and Friday morning (finished before midday).
  • Overtime rates after 40 hours each week + additional earning opportunities

We have a supportive, and skilled team who are looking to welcome a candidate who has:

  • A consistent work history and great references
  • Machining experience or mechanical aptitude
  • The ability to work independently and within a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The physical ability to stand, bend, and lift heavy objects - this is a physical role!
  •  Forklift experience is advantageous but not essential. For the right candidate, we are happy to provide full training and support to obtain the necessary licence.

At Niagara, we offer more than just competitive pay; we offer genuine opportunities for growth and long-term career development. Join our day shift team, where teamwork drives every task and achieving production targets is a shared success. This role can also be a gateway to a variety of future career pathways within our ever-growing operations.
