Hohepa Hawke's Bay

Hōhepa Wellington (Kapiti) is a small entity of an organisation that is known nationally for over 60 years with multiple branches spread through Aotearoa. We are a fast growing disability service that offers both residential and vocational services. We are seeking an amazing individual to work closely with both the people we support and a team of staff. Our organisation is based in a beautiful rural location of Kapiti, which provides an ideal setting to support our people to develop their potential.

With a focus on enabling good lives, each day is different as we support people to live a life, fully lived. We are currently looking for a self-starting, reliable individual for a Day Service Coordinator position.

This is a permanent part time position, working alongside people with intellectual disabilities with the belief that they can do anything and can learn to be able and independent.  You will be working in the Day Service, coordinating the various activities that happen on the site and connecting with local businesses to expand the service and find work opportunities for the people we support.

Some of the people we support can be very active and strong, and we require applicants with a mature approach, who can cope with the mental and physical demands of this role. This can be a challenging role, but also highly rewarding as you journey alongside young people to support their development.  The ideal candidate for this position will:

  • Have the abilities to both display empathy and respect and enable people to achieve their goals and plans
  • Have good communication skills, be able to communicate clearly and appropriately with a range of people, and be able to maintain accurate records and progress notes
  • Have good relationship management skills, ideally with a focus on developing work opportunities
  • Have knowledge of starting and developing micro/social enterprises
  • Be willing and able to work within Hōhepa’s values and practices (curative education and social therapy based on the work of Dr Rudolf Steiner)
  • Hold a full, clean driver licence
  • Be physically fit to meet the demands of the role; be drug free; and be able to pass our vetting requirements

Come join Hohepa and share in the life experience of others.
