Data & Systems Specialist 

Horizons Regional Council is seeking a skilled Data and Systems Specialist who can oversee and implement organisation-wide processes for data and information management, along with supporting systems that deliver on our strategic priorities.

This role is based in Palmerston North, and you will be working alongside project managers, business analysts, developers, and Council subject matter experts. 

This position would suit someone who can think laterally, along with a can-do, bring-it-on, nothing’s too hard attitude along with an unflappable manner.

About you 

You will be involved in a number of projects, managing internal and external partner and stakeholder expectation.  You will also be able to build on positive relationships with those internal and external stakeholders to achieve practical outcomes. 

You should be able to demonstrate proven experience and knowledge with:

  • Python, ASP .NET (C# and/or VB.NET) and SQL Server
  • Information systems analysis, design and development
  • Computer applications for data management
  • Emerging information technology
  • Conceptual and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, verbal and written
  • Research principles and methods
  • Time & project management skills
  • Some awareness of broader council policy, RMA and Local Government Act will also be useful
