About the Role - This role leads FMG’s enterprise approach to data governance, information management, knowledge management, information protection, and privacy — ensuring FMG’s data and information assets are trusted, secure, and fit for purpose.
Reporting to the Head of Data, Information & Analytics, the Data & Information Governance Manager translates FMG’s Data, Information and Analytics strategy into practical governance frameworks, policies, standards, and ways of working. The role plays a critical part in enabling informed decision‑making, supporting regulatory compliance, and ensuring the responsible use of data, analytics, and AI‑enabled capabilities across the Mutual.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead FMG’s enterprise data governance capability, including data ownership, stewardship, accountability, and decision rights.
- Establish and maintain governance practices that ensure data quality, consistency, transparency, and appropriate use.
- Lead enterprise information management and records practices across the full information lifecycle.
- Provide leadership on data and information protection, privacy‑by‑design, and responsible data use.
- Establish and maintain information protection and discovery frameworks to support classification, retention, and compliance.
- Provide governance oversight for data, information, and knowledge used in analytics and AI‑enabled initiatives.
- Lead knowledge management practices to ensure enterprise knowledge assets are accurate, accessible, and well‑governed.
- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders and delivery teams on governance, privacy, and information management matters.
- Lead, coach, and develop information management and governance specialists.
About You:
- A seasoned leader with strong experience in data governance, information management, privacy, or related disciplines.
- Confident translating strategy into practical, proportionate governance frameworks that enable delivery rather than constrain it.
- Strong understanding of data quality, information lifecycle management, and regulatory obligations (including privacy).
- Comfortable working across technology, analytics, risk, security, and business teams.
- A trusted advisor with excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in data governance, information management, or a related field.
