The Opportunity
Due to continued growth and demand for our services, AgFirst Northland is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Rural Professionals interested in joining our consultancy team.
We are especially interested in candidates with a strong background in dairy and or beef and sheep farming systems. Specific expertise in agricultural science, farm business management, agricultural finance, agronomy, or livestock health and performance would be an added advantage.
This is an exciting and varied role supporting farming businesses across Northland and beyond. You will work alongside individual farmers, farmer groups and agribusiness clients to support sound farming, business and strategic decision-making.
A range of established client relationships, projects and farming businesses are ready for the right person to step into, with mentoring, support and professional development available from our experienced team of consultants.
Both full-time and part-time arrangements will be considered.
What We Are Looking For
· A tertiary qualification in agriculture, animal science, farm management or a related discipline.
· Strong practical knowledge of dairy and/or beef farming systems.
· Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
· A practical, client-focused approach.
· The ability to build trusted relationships with farmers and industry stakeholders.
· Competence with managing data and professional report writing.
· Skilled with Excel, Word, Outlook, and other Office 365 software.
Desirable Experience
· Farm business analysis and financial performance assessment.
· Livestock production, animal health and pasture management.
· Environmental planning and compliance.
· Agronomy and forage systems.
· Farmer extension, facilitation or project management.
· Farmax farm management software expertise
· Skilled with developing and monitoring farm budgets and cashflows
