Niagara Sawmilling Company Ltd
Transportation and Logistics

Since 1935, Niagara has grown from a small Southland timber operation into one of New Zealand's leading timber processing and supply businesses. Our products are used in building projects throughout New Zealand and exported around the world.

We are looking for a Customer Support & Administration Team Member to join our Invercargill team.

This is a permanent part-time role, working 25-30 hours per week as negotiated, Monday to Friday. While we are flexible on exact start and finish times, we are looking for someone who can commit to a consistent work pattern of 5-6 hours per day. The role offers a great balance of flexibility and routine, making it an appealing opportunity for someone looking for meaningful, long-term employment with predictable hours. This appealing opportunity could suit someone balancing family responsibilities, study, community involvement, or other commitments outside of work, while still wanting a meaningful and rewarding role.

This is far more than a traditional administration role. As a central hub within the business, you'll work alongside customers, sales, production, and distribution teams to keep products moving, orders progressing, and customers supported. You will have visibility across multiple areas of the operation, making a genuine impact every day while building valuable commercial and customer service experience in a growing local business.

The key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Responding to customer enquiries by phone and email
  • Processing domestic and export customer orders
  • Generating dispatch documentation
  • Producing customer invoices
  • Coding supplier invoices for payment
  • Maintaining product files and price lists
  • General administration and data entry
  • Providing support across the wider customer service team

We are looking for someone who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys being the person who keeps things moving. You will be highly organised, confident across the Microsoft suite, and able to juggle a variety of tasks without losing sight of the details. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be working with customers and colleagues across different areas of the business every day. Most importantly, you will be proactive, take ownership of your work, and enjoy finding practical solutions when challenges arise.

You may have gained your experience in administration, customer service, sales support, accounts, logistics, or a similar role. While knowledge of the building, timber, manufacturing, or construction industries would be an advantage, we are more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, a strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. If you are looking for a varied role where your contribution genuinely makes a difference, we would love to hear from you.

You will be joining an experienced team where people share knowledge, help one another out, and take pride in producing quality work. The role offers plenty of exposure to different areas of the business, making it a great opportunity for someone who enjoys learning and building broad commercial experience.

Please apply online and including both your CV and cover letter. For any questions about the role or confidential inquires please contact Jemma at jemmac@niagara.nz.

Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, including drug testing.
