Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role
This role exists to ensure the borrowing needs of our library customers are met effectively and efficiently. As a front-of-house position, it is often the first point of contact for customers visiting the library and plays a key role in shaping their overall experience with the service. The successful candidate will work closely with customers to understand their information needs, help identify the most suitable materials, and locate and issue resources. This role connects directly with collections and cataloguing staff to ensure resources are easy to find and access, the wider customer service team to maintain consistent standards of service, and the community the library serves by acting as a welcoming, knowledgeable point of contact. Without this role, our Wintec community would lack the guided support needed to navigate the library's resources confidently, making it essential to delivering the library's core purpose of connecting our ākonga and kaimahi with information.
This is a permanent part-time position. For most of the year, the hours are Monday to Friday, 3pm to 6pm, and Saturdays, 12pm to 4pm. Over the summer break (November to February), Saturday shifts are not required, with these hours instead shifted to weekdays. Total hours per week are 19.
The appointing salary for this role will be between $56,453 and $67,200, dependent on skills and experience.
The Customer Services Assistant is based mainly in our Wintec City Campus, reporting to the Library Manager, and will be responsible for the following:
