Underpinning our success as an organisation are our values Kotahitanga, Whakamana, Kaitiakitanga and Whanaungataunga, which are woven through everything we do.
Our Te Parehuia Residential Care Service is a 24 hours / 7 days a week, managed home to provide Rangatahi with the day to day aroha, care, stability, structure, social and cultural wellbeing they need.
The Role
We are looking for a Cultural Support Worker to work in our Residential home. The purpose of the role is to build the cultural knowledge and tikanga in our whare, to provide support to our Whare Matua (House Parents) and the Rangatahi in our care.
The Cultural Support Worker will help the Whare Matua (House Parents) to apply the Te Ao Maori world view and tikanga practises in the way they care for the Rangatahi entrusted to the residential home. They will provide extra support to the running whare, engaging with Rangatahi and planning activities particularly focused on local cultural connections, whakapapa and places of interest.
The Cultural Support Worker will also be available to the Rangatahi to explore and understand their cultural connections with their wider whānau, hapu and iwi and to know that they are special, valued and important. The ability to teach waiata and Kapa haka is an advantage also.
