We have an exciting opportunity for a Cruise Coordinator/Learning & Development Coordinator to join our team based in the beautiful Port Chalmers. 

As cruise ships are seasonal, this newly created hybrid role will keep our successful candidate engaged all year round. During the cruise season which is forecasted this year to start arriving her in Port Chalmers and Dunedin from late October 2022 through until approximately April 2023, you will be involved in everything cruise related, working as one of our cruise coordinators, and then during the off season you will provide additional support to our Learning & Development Lead.

So what will I be doing?

Cruise Coordinator

Reporting to our Sustainability & Cruise Manager, you will ensure the smooth operation of cruise ship activity through our Port Otago facilities, assisting with the continuous improvement, provision, review, revision, and maintenance of the Port’s cruise ship requirements. 

Assistance with the management of cruise ship correspondence and pre-planning/delivery of cruise ship requirements will also play a key part in this role. 

Learning & Development Coordinator

Post cruise season, you will be supporting our Learning & Development Lead with the implementation of Port Otago’s new learning management system and learning frameworks. 

During this time, you may also be tasked with other project work as required to help support the successful delivery of either the People and/or Cruise Strategy.

Some of the qualities we are looking for: 

  • A true passion for Health & Safety – not afraid to speak up and act immediately if something is wrong
  • Brilliant customer service skills which are second to none, and a genuine love for cruise ships!
  • Planning & Scheduling experience would be an advantage
  • Confident  and savvy around technology with the ability to pick up new systems quickly
  • Strong organisation skills with ability to multi-task and/or cope with change at short notice
  • Experience operating within a learning and development environment is an advantage but not essential
  • Excellent communication and team building skills
  • Proven experience and strong interpersonal skill to work with varied stakeholders and maintaining close working relationships

Heads up:

· A full clean NZ Drivers licence is essential

· You must be able to pass Ministry of Justice, ACC checks and a medical which includes a drug and alcohol test as part of our recruitment process

· Random drug and alcohol testing 

· This position needs to be performed by someone who is vaccinated and has also received a booster dose against Covid-19.
