Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and customer‑focused Credit Controller / Accounts Receivable professional to join our Finance and Infrastructure team.

In this role, you will partner closely with ākonga (students), clients, and internal teams to manage accounts receivable and support timely debt recovery. You will lead day‑to‑day collection activities, negotiate payment plans, assist with StudyLink processes, and ensure all payments are accurately processed and recorded in line with legislative and organisational requirements.

A key part of this role is delivering empathetic, confidential, and solutions‑focused financial support to ākonga (students) and customers, while contributing to effective financial operations and continuous improvement across accounts receivable and debt management practices.

Ngā mahi | Key Responsibilities

· Manage end‑to‑end accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, receipting, reconciliations, credit notes, and refunds 

· Deliver effective and timely debt collection, including negotiating payment arrangements with ākonga (students) and clients 

· Monitor accounts for overdue or irregular payments, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate, compliant financial records 

· Liaise with internal teams (Admissions, Enrolments, International, and Finance) to resolve outstanding debt and support smooth financial processes 

· Prepare and provide accounts receivable aged reports and debt recovery updates to the Finance Manager, including referrals to external debt collection agencies where required 

· Contribute to continuous improvement of accounts receivable systems and processes, working collaboratively with Finance team members and wider kaimahi (employees)

You bring:

• A relevant qualification (tertiary degree preferred) in Accounting, Business, Mathematics, Information Technology, or a related field, with extensive experience in accounts receivable or credit control 

• Strong working knowledge of accounts receivable processes, reconciliations, and GST legislation 

• Proven experience using financial systems and technology (e.g. TechOne or similar), with high computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint 

• Sound judgement and problem‑solving capability, with the ability to manage sensitive financial matters professionally and confidentially 

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating an empathetic, customer‑focused approach 

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities accurately in a high‑volume environment, adapt to change, and work collaboratively across teams
