Mō mātou - About us

When you join Presbyterian Support Central (PSC), you’re becoming part of something truly special, a not-for-profit organisation that’s been helping people for more than 115 years.

Everything we do is about supporting people at the most vulnerable times of their lives, whether that’s an older person needing care and connection, or a family working through tough times.

PSC has two well-known service brands that lie at the heart of our mahi:

  • Family Works: our social services supporting children and whānau through counselling, social work, life-skills and parenting programmes and safety services.
  • Enliven: our positive ageing services that create age-friendly communities where older people have companionship, choice, fun, and purpose.

Together, we make a lasting difference.

Mō te tūranga - About the role

Family Works delivers a variety of programmes including social work; counselling support for whānau experiencing family violence; together with one on one counselling support to adults, couples, youth, children and whānau.  This includes both group and individual programmes and dedicated support for tamariki/rangatahi and wāhine who have experienced trauma.

Under our ACC Sensitive Claims contract we are offering counselling services for individuals who have experienced trauma, working through referrals under the ACC sensitive claims for tane, wāhine and tamariki/rangatahi.

This role is full time, working with some flexibility to accommodate hours that meet the needs of our clients, which may occasionally mean delivering counselling services outside of the normal working day/week.  What is important is that we listen to the needs of our clients and work to enable positive outcomes and do right by the person. The caseload can be high and we must be responsive and manage workloads within the team accordingly.  No two days will be the same, our counsellors may be involved in both individual and group work and other related services designed to support a range of individuals and their support needs.
