WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
The Corporate Internal Auditor is an integral part of the Finance Team that ensures the day-to-day financial operations of this multi-million-dollar business are managed prudently and systematically. The role focuses on evaluating and enhancing the internal controls of all financial processes and risk management of the organisation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Executive Team in reviewing current financial internal controls and processes. To have this reflected in appropriate policies and procedures. And to ensure that the compliance to the stated policies and procedures.
The role will also assist in the provision of high quality, accurate and timely financial information for the Board, leadership team, managers and stakeholders to achieve its mission and vision.
KEY OUTCOMES
•Conduct Internal Audits: Plan, execute, and manage internal audit projects to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
•Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks and control weaknesses, providing recommendations for mitigating identified risks.
•Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and organisational policies, keeping abreast of changes and updates in regulatory requirements.
•Process Improvement: Collaborate with Executives and Establishment Managers to develop and implement improvements to internal processes and controls based on audit findings and best practices.
•Audit Reporting: Prepare clear and concise audit reports detailing findings, recommendations, and management responses. Present audit reports to senior management and stakeholders.
•Audit Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and organised audit documentation, ensuring that all work papers and evidence are appropriately documented which will form the basis of the organisation’s external annual audit.
•Preparation of the monthly financial reporting, cash flow forecasting and budgeting
•Assist in the preparation of the yearly annual accounts
•Assist in the management of the yearly audit process
•Assist in the management of the Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement of the organisation on a monthly basis.
•Ensure that the relevant work papers are in place on a month-by-month basis to support all monthly financial reporting.
•Meeting all statutory requirements – GST, FBT, Gaming Duties and Taxation
•Assisting in the implementation of a Capital Asset Management Plan.
•Develop a good working relationship with the Executives and the Establishment Managers to provide advice and guidance in managing their businesses financially.
•Participate in continuous improvement of key information systems, processes and procedures to ensure they align with best practice
•Assist in the consolidation of the organisation’s purchasing with appropriate contracts
•Analysing the financial information flow from the Establishments with a focus of improving efficiencies
•Support and coach other finance team members as required
•Champion, comply and promote health, safety and well-being within ILT
YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
•Good communicator and proven relationship management
•Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to write succinct financial reports
•Proven understanding of business planning, budgeting, forecasting and taxation
•Degree in Accountancy and working towards a Chartered Accountant qualification or a newly qualified Chartered Accountant
