About Rockit

We’re a New Zealand company taking the nutritious goodness of our miniature apples to the world — and we’re looking for a new rock(it) star to lead our Coolstore team.

Our brand has big plans for the next few years, and you will be right at the heart of it. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you’ll work proactively and collaboratively across Rockit to deliver outstanding quality outcomes for our Rockit apples.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the Chief Operating Officer with planning and commissioning current and future Coolstore facilities managed by Rockit
  • Oversee any third party coolstore agreements
  • Review and develop operating procedures to ensure they remain relevant and robust.
  • Lead and develop the capability of the Coolstore team to meet the current and future needs of Rockit
  • Implement best‑practice management of Rockit’s CA and RA coolstores, on‑site and off‑site, including SmartFresh activities.
  • Ensure accurate inventory and key performance records are in place and monitored closely
  • Oversee the planning and execution of cost-effective and effective preventative maintenance of Coolstore facilities to maximise quality and storage availability
  • Put in place the appropriate organisational structure and systems to assure the quality and food safety complies with industry standards, as well as ensuring all associated staff are trained and competent
  • Support storage procedures /HACCP system as required alongside the Head of Quality and Compliance
  • Coordinate external and internal audit programmes 
  • Foster a positive culture and plan activities and initiatives to promote a positive work environment

What you’ll bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • Strong technical understanding of refrigeration systems and produce storage (CA/RA, bin storage, SmartFresh).
  • Extensive experience in the management of quality management systems relative to fruit storage (including quality, food safety and environmental)
  • Supply Chain experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of workplace HACCP and workplace health and safety requirements
  • Strong  systems, reporting and best practice associated with storage logistics experience.
  • Exceptional people leadership and relationship management skills
  • Strong computer skills including understanding of temperature management systems and inventory systems
  • Flexible in terms of working hours.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and professional team, based at our Te Ipu site in Hastings. 

You must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand on a permanent basis and be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
