About us:
Beststart Raureka is nestled in a back section in the heart of Raureka. We pride ourselves in providing a programme that reaches out to whānau and the community and incorporates the values, aspirations and beliefs of whānau, community and the wider Iwi. Our philosophy incorporates aspects of Kaupapa Māori that we believe to pinnacle in providing a curriculum that promotes children’s well-being physically, emotionally and spiritually. Our centre is located in the rohe of Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga. Many of our centre whānau, tamariki and Kaiako whakapapa to Ngāti Kahungunu rohe and afar. We also have tamariki and Kaiako who identify from a huge variety of cultures. Our centre consists of two teaching teams as well as a centre admin and our participation van driver.
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has come about for a new centre Cook to join our busy team at BestStart Raureka. We are searching for someone who can provide fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals for our children each day. As our Centre Cook you will plan, prepare and cook an appetising and culturally varied menu for the children, including morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. You’ll need to be efficient with your time and have an excellent knowledge of foods that promote good nutrition and healthy eating for our children.
This is a permanent part time position working 35 hours Monday-Friday.
Role requirements:
- Commit to making a difference in the lives of young learners with a team dedicated to excellence. We are looking for the following:
- Knowledge around health and safety in the kitchen and set high standards of hygiene and housekeeping
- A passion for cooking and baking
- An understanding of allergies and dietary requirements
- Be computer literate in order to design menus and place orders each week
- The ability to remain within the budgets for ordering food
- A passion for promoting healthy eating for young children
