Our client requires a motivated Contract Milker with proven pasture management skills to take on their 200-cow dairy farm near Matamata, to commence for the 2026/27 season.
The 80-hectare property runs as a medium-input (System 3) farm, featuring a 24 ASHB cowshed, automatic cup removers and in-shed feeding. The farm uses around 200 tonnes of meal annually, supplemented by grass silage. With this system in place, the farm consistently achieves production of 95-100,000kgMS from their Friesian herd. Recent upgrades include the installation of a new drafting gate and cow collar technology to support efficient herd management and data-driven decision making.
The successful applicant will:
- Minimum of 3 years of dairy experience and 1 year of farm management experience
- Competent in pasture management and feed planning
- Maintain accurate cow records to ensure herd health and productivity
- Strong communication skills, paired with attention to detail and a solid work ethic
- Ensure all health and safety aspects are effectively managed
- Keep the farm, surrounds, and cowshed in a clean and tidy condition
